Eligibility Criteria for Admission into M.Tech. Programme:

The minimum marks in the qualifying degree for all the three sub-categories shall be same as that for the Full-Time candidates of the M. Tech programme. GATE qualification shall not be essential for the Part-Time candidates. A candidate under the sub-categories of Sponsored and Institute employed person must be a regular employee of the Institute/ sponsoring organization with at least two years of professional experience and preferably engaged in professional work in the area to which admission is sought.

Admission Procedure:

  • a) There shall be an admission test conducted by the Institute for each discipline based on a syllabus that will be specified along with the admission notification.
  • b) The final selection for admission to the Part-Time category shall be based on a Score computed with weights given on the qualifying degree marks, admission test marks, length of service score and GATE score as follows:
    • 1. Qualifying degree marks: 40%
    • 2. Admission test marks: 40%
    • 3. Length of Service Score: 10%
    • 4. Valid GATE Score: 10%
  • c) The component of GATE score is to encourage the candidates to qualify in GATE to prepare themselves better for the M. Tech programme. The length of service score shall be assigned as 2% per year with a maximum limit of 10%. All the scores shall be normalized to 100 for computation of the final score.
  • d) The following documents are to be furnished along with the application by candidates falling under Sponsored, Project Staff, and Institute employed person categories:
    • 1. Form I: Sponsorship letter for Sponsored category.
    • 2. Form II: No objection certificate from the Project PI and approved by Dean (R&C), for Project Staff category.
    • 3. Form III: No objection certificate from the concerned department/ section and approved by Registrar for Institute employed person category
